Crab Legs! My fave.

So, crab legs are one of my favorite things to eat, but I have definitely never cooked them myself. I thought they were going to be really difficult for some reason, but they were probably easier than making a PB&J. Last Wednesday, my dad came over and brought the double steamer pot that I guess is necessary for making these. He bought it at Wal-Mart for forty bucks. I don't have one yet, so he let me borrow his.

The crab legs were on sale at Stater's, so that is why we made such a special dinner. Every time we eat crab legs, I always say, "This is the feast of a King". I don't know why, I just do... and Marcos makes fun of me. Dinner was good :)

We just steamed the frozen crab legs on the stove for about 45 minutes. That's it!

Marcos made the butter to dip by melting real butter with a little olive oil. I made some seasoned potatoes and asparagus with it. Delish!

Mushroom & Onion Chicken

Last night I prepared Mushroom and Onion Chicken. I knew I couldn't go wrong since onions and mushrooms are two of my husband's favorite things to eat. He always says, "The more onion, the better". I didn't have much time yesterday because I had to work for my dad then go to bible study in the evening so I needed something quick and easy.

I just put the thawed chicken breast (boneless & skinless) on the stove in 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil. I fried the chicken for about 4 minutes, turned it then added freshly sliced onion and mushrooms while it finished cooking. The only seasoning I used this time was salt and pepper... I didn't measure that, just added to my liking. I served with Brown rice and dinner was done.

I liked this one... if you are a fan of mushroom & onion, I'm sure you will too :)

Lemon Chicken With Potato & Asparagus.

Sorry for the delay... this is what I made Wednesday night. I found the idea online... but I didn't have fresh lemons, and it was too late to head to the store so I improvised with Lemon Pepper seasoning from Mrs. Dash. I also grated a little orange peel for the extra citrusy taste. I added other random seasonings and some olive oil to the chicken (boneless & skinless), potatoes & asparagus then cooked for about 45 minutes on 350 degrees.

My husband said it was really good... and he loved the lemon flavor. I do believe he liked it and was not just saying that because if I make something and he is not a fan, he simply says, "It's not my favorite". What a gentleman... hehe. We had some leftover chicken so I cut it up and made Marcos a chicken salad for lunch the next day.

Next time I will make sure to cut up fresh lemon and let them cook in the food. If you think you might like this one, have at it! Pretty cheap a meal at that. Have a wonderful day.

Just for fun I guess... or not.

Hello world. So I recently watched the movie. "Julie & Julia" and realized I am far from being a cooking queen. I really never cooked anything until I got married. What I did cook was just about the same ole' thing every week. Burritos, tacos, spaghetti, and fettuccini. I've decided that I would like to venture out and make something new to spice up dinner time. I can get lazy about it at times so I've decided to make a blog to hold me somewhat accountable. I will not be cooking a new recipe everyday like in the movie, but I will be challenging myself to try a couple new recipes every week. Nothing too fancy (I hope), just different than what I usually make. So, here I go! Hopefully this will inspire some of you to kick it up a notch in the kitchen too ;)

Please feel free to start your own blog on recipes to share with me or e-mail me some of your favorites so that I can try them!
